MELBOURNE INTERNATIONAL COMEDY FESTIVAL ROADSHOW 2006

Just when you thought you’d laughed enough with the Big Laugh Comedy Festival, Riverside presents another fun-filled night of slick, sophisticated, unpredictable and outrageous entertainment with the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow 2006. This annual event brings the best of the MICF around the country in a series of one night stands including Riverside. Featuring a roll call of the most fabulously funny home-grown and overseas comedians comedy fans will want to book early for this terrific show. This year’s performers include Damian Callinan, Cal Wilson, Mickey D and Jeff Green with the rest of the cast announced closer to the date. Damian is a regular performer on SkitHouse and Before the Game as well as a voice on Triple J, ABC, Mix FM and Triple M. Kiwi-born Cal is best known for her regular appearances on The Glasshouse, Rove Live, Last Man Standing and Spicks and Specks. Mickey D has been the smash hit of the last six festivals in Edinburgh with his warm, cheeky and energetic brand of comedy. His success and popularity has seen him tour across the USA, UK and on his occasional trips home to Australia! UK comedian Jeff Green’s success crosses borders, oceans and continents as well as art forms having delved into books, stand up, video and CD! He returns to the MICF after a three year gap and looks forward to entertaining audiences around NSW!

my wtf would be Jeff Green... he wasn't even in the festival!? and also - after a 3 year gap!? wasn't he there last year, or was that the year before???

if anyone has any further line-up details I'd love to hear 'em, as I'd kinda like to go, but at the same time, that line-up's not grabbing me so far, not enough to spend money, anyway...

Jeff Green was here last year. I only know because I recently found a copy of last year's programme under a pile of stuff while cleaning up.

As to the line-up the only thing I can add is that Eddie Perfect won't be in Parramatta. I received a message from his mailing list yesterday. He's doing the Roadshow but will be doing the regional Vic shows on the same dates as Parramatta.

Erm, well, Brisbane Powerhouse has listed these people as being part of the roadshow.
The 4 Noels
Maria Bamford
Dave Callan
Greg Fleet
Tom Gleeson
Justin Hamilton
David O'Doherty
Cal Wilson
Fiona O'Laughlin
Tommy Dean
David Williams

They're not all touring Queensland, and I don't know if that's a complete list. The 'wtf' from that list appears to be Maria Bamford? I didn't know she was in the country, or had a comfest show.

...but we are not stupid pooeys, so let's rejoice...

No, she wasn't at Comfest but she definitely performed at the Adelaide Fringe Festival a couple of months ago. I saw her show at the Nova Cinema in Rundle St.

Apparently she met an Adelaide man while overseas sometime last year and came over to Adelaide for a few months to get to know him better. From what I recall from newspaper articles, she spent some time doing self-improvement courses and volunteering at the Fringe Festival head office.

Now, aren't I just full of WTF information!

I'm not sure who is performing at the Lismore Roadshow event I do know that it is the night before the final day of my TAFE course and knowing my luck I'll have a shitload of work to do for it that night.

I'm hoping I don't, and I don't leave too much time before attempting to get tickets if I decide to go regardless because missing out would suck,

We had the Roadshow here (in Mt Isa) a few weeks ago. We had Mickey D MCing (with his clothes left on - he was a bit shocked when I mentioned after that I was there in the HiFi the night he stripped lol I don't think he was expecting that to come back and bite him in the arse [not literally!] all the way up in North West QLD - hehe), Harley Breen (who got so excited when he saw I was wearing his 'religion is the new black' shirt. He's so sweet ), Mark Watson (who either stole an Eddie Perfect joke or just happened to come up with something VERY similar), Fiona O'Loughlin (one of the nicest human beings on earth!) and Sam Simmons.

It was funny to see how much Sam had to 'adjust' his act for Isa (and probably all country town) audiences. I don't know how many times he 'acknowledged' mid act he was weird and he would warn us when he was about to go weirder. It was good to see him again I miss the subliminal cat

The Roadshow kicks arse. It's the only live comedy some towns get a year. I hope it continues for as long as the festival itself!

Ten shades of suck! Thats what that is.
George - Dead Like Me

I'd say Mount Isa is a redneck town, but half the population are yet to develope necks.

I went to the comedy festival roadshow in Bunbury, WA on June 10th. We had Dave Williams as mc, Samy J, Harley Breen, Nelly Thomas and Greg Fleet. It was a pretty good night over all, although I am not a huge fan of Sammy J. I do like him but sometimes he irks me, and I didnt really enjoy his performance, because a lot of his stuff I had already seen on the Laughapalooza dvd...although the backward singing was tops! Greg Fleet, whom I ahve seen before, was a little disappointing simply cos I ahve seen him do better.

I thought Nelly Thomas was great, although my brother didn;t think so...she did do quite a bit of chick humor, maybe thats why. Harley Breen was hell funny too, but by far Dave Williams was my favourite. He was a freakin crack up!!! Hope to see more of his work (not to mention nice butt).
