Kate McLennan in: The Enthusiasts “A winner.” The Age In 2007 Kate McLennan’s hysterical show “The Debutante Diaries” took the Comedy Festival by storm, receiving a Barry Award nomination for Best Show. In 2008, she returns with “The Enthusiasts” a hilarious character based show about groupies, fans and people with a good old fashioned dose of passion. Kate has been employed to write a weekend newspaper column called “The Enthusiasts” where she must interview a series of extreme fanatics, groupies, aficionados and all round enthusiastic people. Kate brings the interviewees to life in a series of re-enactments, revealing the character’s heart-warming and hilarious tales of passion. We meet her subject matter - Natalie the Justin Timberlake groupie, Janine Bellows, a goal achievement extraordinaire, 8 year old Lexie Brown who is an avid reader, Miranda Nicholson; whose body has hit ‘reproduction o’clock’ and Ron and Beverley McLaren who share a passion for the great Australian holiday. The Enthusiasts will premiere during the 2008 Melbourne International Comedy Festival, with a season in the Regent Room at Melbourne Town Hall from 20 March to 13 April (except Mondays). Kate has had an incredibly successful run with the Debutante Diaries – with a national tour planned for 2009. In 2008 Kate will appear as a regular cast member in Charlie Pickering and Michael Chamberlin’s Comedy Channel show The Mansion. “Really hysterical...I’m still laughing” BEAT Nominee Barry Award – 2007 Comedy Festival for Most Outstanding show Winner Best Comedy – 2006 Melbourne Fringe Winner Best Newcomer – 2006 Melbourne Fringe ----LISTING INFORMATION Venue: Melbourne Town Hall – Regent Room Dates: 20th March – 13th April (Not Mondays) Previews 20th-23rd March Tickets: $20 Full, $18 Concession, $15 Previews Times: 7.15pm Tues-Sat (6.15 on Sundays) Bookings: Ticketmaster 1300 660 013, www.comedyfestival.com.au or at the door KEEP WATCHING FOR MOSH TICKET GIVEAWAYS! | ||
