Hi My name is Chris Tomkins and I am the editor of GORSKYS.COMedy (www.gorskys.com.au). A few months ago, fellow Gorsky and GORSKYS.COMedy co-creator, Liam Cody, passed away after a long battle with melanoma. As a Melbourne Comedy Festival participant for over 12 years, Liam took great enjoyment in performing in the festival and in his memory I am opening up 50 banner advertising spots on GORSKYS.COMedy in exchange for a donation of any amount to the Peter MacCallum Cancer Institute where Liam received much of his treatment. Your donation doesn’t have to be a lot. A banner ad usually costs about $30-$50 and would be seen by potentially hundreds of thousands of people per month, but I know money is tight when you’re financing a show so even a small donation is fine. WHAT IS GORSKYS.COMedy? The Gorskys (Liam Cody, Chris Tomkins and Jo Stanley [until 1999]) formed in 1992 performing sketch and musical comedy on radio, stage, TV and the Internet. GORSKYS.COMedy (www.gorskys.com.au) launched in 1995 when The Gorskys decided to publish all the stupid articles they had written for the print media on the then burgeoning “information superfootpath”. Since then the site has grown rapidly and now receives over 350,000 visitors per month from around the world. Our banner ads are viewed between 8,000 and 15,000 times per day. Approximately 50% of these views are Australian meaning there’s a good chance you’ll be seen by someone who’s looking for a show to see. WHAT IS THE PETER MACCALLUM CANCER INSTITUTE? The Peter Mac, as it is commonly referred to, is Australia’s foremost Cancer Centre, providing treatment and support to patients and their families underpinned by research that broadly influences cancer care in the community through multi-disciplinary partnerships, research and education. THE LOW DOWN IN SHORT Book your ad Send me an email at chris@gorskys.com.au with the following details: Show title. Contact name, email and phone number. A link to the website you want people to go to when they click your ad - this could be your own website, the comedy festival program, or your Ticketmaster page. A short text description of your ad that appears if the banner ad doesn’t load properly (15-20 words) End date for your season. 10 to 15 Keywords - these make your ad appear on pages that are related to your ad. For example if your keyword is ‘football’ your ad will appear more often on pages that contain the word ‘football’. Be specific about the themes of your show. Create your ad Ad needs to be a jpg, png or gif. The dimensions are 168 pixels wide by 60 pixels high. The file size can be no greater than 100kb. It can be an animated gif. Send your finished art to chris@gorskys.com.au Make your donation Make a donation to Peter Mac at http://www.petermac.org/donation/ If you choose a memorial donation, please make it out in memory of “Liam Cody”. Alternatively, the Claire Oliver Melanoma fund directs funds directly into melanoma research. Sit back and relax Your ad will hit the site the day after I receive it until your final show. Thanks for taking the time to read and possibly be involved. This is open to all participants in the 2008 Comedy Festival so feel free to forward this information on to anyone else who may be interested in advertising their show and helping in cancer research. http://www.gorskys.com.au/about/comfestadv2008.html Chris Tomkins GORSKYS.COMedy chris@gorskys.com.au | ||
