Search Engines

Hello my lovelies!

I have to research search engines and write stuff about them. What I'm after (pleeeeease) from you guys is your favourite search engines! The more "obscure/rare" the better!!

Thanks!!!

I only ever use Google to search the web anymore, since most other search engines are either wildly inaccurate, and thus useless, or are so packed full of ads it's hard to find worthwhile results in amongst the rubbish.

I occasionally use askjeeves.com

It depends on what I'm searching for, for work I usually use google cause it is the easiest, but if I want to do more advanced searching I choose something like Altavista

I generally use the advanced search option at ninemsn, I use google if I didn't get the result I was wanting and askjeeves if I have no idea what I'm actually looking for (generally work related).

It became popular by having a nifty name combined with actually providing useful results, unlike longer standing engines such as Yahoo that have, for a long time, been fairly useless for up to date website finding, since getting a site indexed is next to impossible.

I use google for normal searching unless I'm looking for images and then I usually use Altavista for that..

I heard about google from my brother. No idea where he found it.

I've found that google will usually find what I'm after easier then the other search engines..

BOO!!!!

google all the way

i forget the technicalities, but it's slightly different in how it searches the net, thus producing better results. it's a lovely homepage as well, very uncluttered and incredibly easy...

the other thing about google too is that the creators didn't jump on the bandwago a few years ago and float it on the stock exchange, thus they've been able to maintain a lot more control over its course
