whoopie for us, looks like we were among the first networks in Australia to be hit very comforting indeed. I don't even want to think about how many of the thousands of computers here are still infected.

This is the first time, in a very long time, that I've actually been happy to have a craparse old computer

TAFE sent a patch to all workstations.

now half the computers in the lab are fixed... and the other half are still stuffed after using the patch... thankfully I'm one of the fixed ones.

I got this from our computer people

You may have received a new message from an unknown sender.

New email virus/worm "Swen" masquerades as Microsoft Update
There is a new virus which sends mass mail from an infected machine. Although this should be stopped at the SA Govt Messaging gateway, you are requested not to open any updates which are attached to emails where the attachment claims to be the

"Septermber 2003, Cumulative Patch"; or
Critical Security Patch or any similar heading.

Some email subject lines that Swen (the new virus) may use are:

New Internet Security Update
net security upgrade
New Net Critical Update
Mail: User unknown

If you receive an email from any source which matches this description, DO NOT OPEN IT, DELETE it and then DELETE it from your Deleted Items folder.

*kisses the new Nortons Anivirus 2003 that she got installed last night*

My dad forwarded me this from his work:

Quote:
(1) There is currently a new Microsoft vulnerability: A new Virus is expected to be released that will exploit this new vulnerability very soon.
In order to pretect your PC from being attacked and to work on your PC smoothly. Pls download and install the security patch ASAP.

(2) How you and your users WILL be affected:

- A security issue has been identified that could allow an attacker to remotely compromise a computer and gain complete control over it.

(3) What you and your users MUST DO:

- Windows 2000 & Windows NT users
Please download the microsoft patch from the following link to your local PC and double click it to install the patch.
Win2000: File name:Windows2000-KB824146-x86-ENU.exe (916KB)

Download URL: Windows2000-KB824146-x86-ENU.exe

WinNT4.0: File Name:WindowsNT4Workstation-KB824146-x86-ENU.EXE (1.34MB)

Download URL: WindowsNT4Workstation-KB824146-x86-ENU.EXE

Note: After installation you need to restart your PC to completely finish it.

- Windows 98 & 95 users need NOT install MS03-039

Ah, the wonders and joys of running windows 98se, and being too lazy to bother updating to a new operating system with a new set of problems

I like the problems I have right now, thankyou very much! :p

Fate…and Johnson and Friends…brought us together.

I can't believe...my account still exists!
