Why is everyone dying
I can't remember the name of it but isn't there a Japanese ceremonial suicide that involves stabbing yourself....

Hari Kari, yes. Though it's more of a stab, cut across the stomach horizontally, then yank the knife upwards, so a nice large L shape is cut through the guts. Very painful, almost impossible to live through if done properly, regardless of medical attention.

Fair enough. You'd have to be pretty upset to stab yourself though. There are far simpler ways to end it all. Although I'm not an expert. Obviously.

They usually had a buddy standing behind them with a sword in case they messed it up. If stabbin' yourself in the guts doesn't quite do the job, having a mate cut your head off usually fulfills the requirements of honour.
Hey, if any of you guys want to try hari kiri and you need someone to cut off your head if you mess it up - I'm there for you.

Not really the right thread I know, but Weird Al Yankovic's parents have died.

Poor Weird Al. To lose both his parents at once, and like that. How awful

Yeah, I heard this on Sunrise this morning. It's terrible. And happens to a lot of old people in winter. Some sit too close to the heater with their blankets, and... Well, it's just so sad.

That's terrible what happened to Weird Al's parents.

Well here's a morbid and depressing topic I never noticed before...

I'd just like to say that I miss Elliott.
And that the fish named after Kurt Cobain is doing well; the Jeff Buckley fish is coming to live with me soon...but the Elliott fish isn't due til his 1 year anniversary at the end of this year.

I am done.

It is a little morbid and depressing isn't it.

Richard Biggs, Babylon 5's Dr Stephen Franklin, died suddenly over the weekend of a suspected aneurysm or a massive stroke at age 41.

Hmm .. both in the same day is suspicious. There wasn't any change to their water or anything recently, was there?

the tank got cleaned about a week ago, but it was done the same way it always been done. these were old fish, about 7 or 8 years old, so i'd just like to think that they wanted to die together. either that or one had a gross disease and decided to share it.

we did recently get a very exciteable kitten though...
