A man who will donate ten thousand dollars to charity. Normally not a Smacktard-ish thing to do. Why will he do this? Because he thinks violent video games make kids violent. His conditions for this donation? That the game companies make a REALLY violent video game with LESS storyline than the ones he hates. The premise: A father’s vengeance on the game industry after his son is killed by a gamer.

I think that most people would think a game based on their own deaths would be funny. Well, I would.

A woman was charged in the US today with cutting open her pregnant neighbour's belly with a razor knife to try and steal her baby, an effort that was thwarted when a passer-by saw what was happening and alerted authorities.

The victim, Valerie Oskin, 30, was taken to a hospital, where an emergency Caesarean section was performed. Hospital officials said this afternoon they couldn't release any information about Oskin or her baby.

Peggy Jo Conner, 38, of Ford City, Pennsylvania, hit Oskin over the head with a baseball bat, state police said.

She then drove Oskin about 25 kilometres to a secluded, wooded area in Armstrong County, about 80 kilometres northeast of Pittsburgh, and cut Oskin across her abdomen, Trooper Jonathan Bayer said.

"She was sliced over an old (Cesarean) scar and severely bleeding," Bayer said.

A teenager on an all-terrain vehicle came across the two women in the woods.

"She probably would have bled to death if this young boy had not discovered her when he did," Bayer said.

Although Conner told the boy that Oskin was fine, he called his father, who notified police. Bayer said he believed Oskin was in her third trimester of pregnancy.

Conner was arraigned today on charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault and aggravated assault of an unborn child.

Smacktards of the day: Once again, Howard, Ruddock and assorted cronies - ACT "Chief Minister" Jon Stanhope has been branded irresponsible for posting a copy of draft anti-terror legislation on his website.

Excuse me?! This is legislation that has the potential to affect every single person living in this country, and you're trying to tell me I mustn't be allowed to read it before it becomes law?

The reasons given for not wanting this information posted are complete and total bullshit. This does not "hijack" anyone's ability to participate in the consultations regarding the legislation. Where did you even pull that fucking weak excuse from?
This enables more people to participate. It ensures politicians cannot deliberately represent a viewpoint in the consultation that is at odds with what the people would want.

It means that we, the people this will most affect, will have time to assess this legislation, if we so wish, and decide whether we are okay with our nominated representative voting Yea or Nay when the time comes.

How this "leak" affects the public is what matters in this instance, as this legislation will be used against the public if it gets passed.
And the only way this affects the public is in a positive manner - there is no downside to us being able to peruse this legislation before it becomes law.

Well, except for the fact that now we all know we need to say the Queen is a fucking old useless bitch queen from hell (*) before the legislation gets through parliament.
If it goes through, that sentence could put me up on charges of sedition, apparently. Because it might inspire hatred of the sovereign. You know, never mind the fact that I don't wish any harm to the old bag, oooh, mustn't speak ill of the Queen!

Further to the Columbine comment, you play as the bully in that game - the Columbine killers were loners, not bullies. They were the ones being picked on. If it was a Columbine simualtor, midway through the game a kid in a trenchcoat would come in and shoot your character.

I'd like to see Thompson sued for fraud, reneging on his agreement like that.
