My smacktard of the day is lightning, stupid bloodly lightning that struck our phone system at work a month ago and they're still trying to fix it. And whoever designed this place so that one lightning strick can do so much damage.

Smacktard of the day:
The gay guy who is suing 2UE (NSW) for comments uttered by John Laws and Steve Price on the radio.

You listen to John Laws, you get what you deserve, mate. :P

It's like going to a KKK meeting and then suing the owner of the meeting hall. Smacktard!

Runner-up:
Mark Webber for doing a burnout in front of onlookers on the Sydney Harborside.
Great example you're setting for the kids there, Mark.

Honorable mention:
"Journalists" who continue to write stories about the also-rans in Australian Idol. It's bad enough putting up with the constipated fathead, please don't subject us to breathless updates about the doings of the people that couldn't sing better than a strangled tomcat.
Shocking though it may seem, not everyone watched it! Some of us would like to hear some real news once in a while....

Runner-up HM :
People who say they're not going to argue with someone anymore, but then keep saying things designed to provoke further arguments.. Smacktards!

Enough said? So you've got a secret, but you're not telling us?

I'd also like to add Foxtel.

Who are now only offerning the digital service to new customers and of course my building isn't digital ready.

And there's nothing wrong with 18 year old boys as the singular of the species but in a group they're stupid idiots and if I get asked one more stupid question today I'm going to smack one of them.

Also the reports who generalise that kids in Catholic schools don't come from poorer families because the ones at Catholic schools in places like Sydney's North Shore are from high income families. Apparently only 54% of Catholic from low income families go to the schools while a staggeringly larger 60% from high income families do.

If you're going to argue against funding for private schools that's a pretty stupid point to be arguing it on. From experince I know that there are a lot of families hat have to scrimp and save to provide their children with the education that frankly in some area you have to send your kids to a private school to achieve.

Ditto! I have to add the people who keep on turning up on the doorstep asking if we'd like to be connected, when I've already explained to them that as soon as we have two incomes, I Will Call Them! After about the 5th door knocker, I curtly told them to make a note of it or I'd change my mind. Sure enough, a couple of weeks later, there they are on my doorstep.

A very close second goes to people door knocking for the utility companies, who turn up and say, 'Would you like to change to Telstra?' When I'm already with Telstra.

The Optus goons get offended when I tell them our main line is cheaper than they can offer due to Telstra employee discounts.
I generally detest all those kinds of "offers", including phone offers. I have better ways to waste 5 minutes of my time, thanks all the same!

I don't really know about the Catholic schools lower/higher income thing. But perhaps if the private schools were funded less, and the funding was given to the public schools so they could afford more resources, they would be better schools, and these people wouldn't have to scrimp to send their kids to private schools to get that sort of education. And then there'd be more equality in education and noone would perceive a class and monetary distinction between private and public schools, whether there is one or not.
Maybe.

I agree that public schools need to be better funded, I went to public schools, but to generalise that families that go to Catholic schools are high income is stupid.

I wouldn't say stupid, just not entirely accurate.

Smacktard of the day: Penrith Panthers.

Their monthly (?) magazine arrived in our letterbox today. The cover sports the bold phrase, "The footy is back!" So you'd expect a shot of this year's team? Perhaps an action shot from one of Penrith's games last year, or in the pre-season comp? Maybe a shot of Craig Gower, team captain, potential future Australian captain and general smacktard?

Nope!
