Drunk Midget to even Drunker Chick - Have you ever had anyone go up on you before?

Son: Is there anything we can do to get Buffy back?
Mom: Well, we could join together in prayer.
Son: Uh huh. Is there anything useful we can do?
Mom: No.

i'm guessing that 1 in 5 people smoke or even more - everywhere i go people are blowing the shit into my face it's disgusting. i think maybe the government 'should' do something about it, but then i think, if you're stupid enough to smoke then i don't really care that the government is making massive profits out of selling the product.

The "should" was because the dude was saying the government should pressure the ciggie companies into taking out the accelerant they put into the paper to make it burn better. When, really, that's just sending a bad message about cigarettes being "safer" after that happens.

I'm quite happy for smokers to smoke themselves to death in the privacy of their own homes. Good for them. But I can't even walk down the street without copping a lungful as these bastards walk past me.

Now if you can't whip out a machine gun and carelessly spray bullets into the general populace, then why is smoking OK?

Hear, hear. It's a fucking disgusting habit, and if people want to poison themselves like that, then good on them.

But when it affects me? When I have to breathe in the same shit, without a choice? Oh my god fuck off.

And yeah, if I get sickness from secondhand smoke? I'm sure as HELL going to sue someone's arse off for it.

I wouldn't have a problem with smoking if it didn't affect others. But the fact that I come home reeking after going out, and have a sore throat - well I don't think that's fair. They shouldn't make it illegal, but just keep taxing it or even tax it more and put the taxes towards something good.

I agree completely with what people are saying. I actually feel really sorry for all the bands who perform in places where smoking is allowed. Like when sugarplum fairy and me were at Polaroids the other month, someone down the front of the crowd had blown their smoke out, which proceeded to hit Dave McCormack directly in the face. How the hell is that fair? I mean, fair enough Dave smokes in his own right, but still, if he was a non-smoker performing then it's just wrong.

The sooner smoking is outlawed in public places the better!

I'm an asthmatic, and I've had to walk out of pubs and venues because the instant I walk in there, the smoke starts affecting me. I have friends, not all of whom are asthmatic, who've had to do the same thing. How is that fair? Smokers are whinging that they will have to leave venues to smoke - well, there are people who have to leave venues because of them - and we're not killing everyone around us. So we win. Yay us!!

Can't wait til the bans are enforced.

Mmm. Tassie is at least taking one step in the right direction. We've got quite a few smoke-free pubs now. Notably the Uni Bar, which is basically where all the good acts play. (We had Matt King visit in March, Tripod in July, and pretty much every decent band that made the trip across the Strait). Funnily enough, the Wrest Point Casino, which isn't smoke-free, gets mostly awful acts. 30 Odd Foot of Grunts, for example (there are a few exceptions of course).

The smokers complain about going outside, but there are heaters outside. And non-smokers have to walk through the doorway miasma to get into the Bar anyway.

But in general, we're doing well. Yay us.

Smacktard for today: Kelly Cavuoto (a.k.a. 'the rock chick' from last year's Australian Idol)

VIDEO Hits host and former Australian Idol finalist Kelly Cavuoto has left Channel Ten in the wake of a display of obnoxious behaviour at an awards ceremony last week.

Exit ... Kelly will wave goodbye to Video Hits co-host Axle Whitehead.

Cavuoto raised more than a few eyebrows at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards at Luna Park on Tuesday with a display of alcohol-fuelled foul language and abuse at television screens whenever singer Guy Sebastian appeared on them.

She had been hosting Video Hits since January after making the Idol final 12 in 2003, but has flown from Sydney back to her family in Adelaide after leaving her hosting job on Friday.

A Ten spokeswoman yesterday said her behaviour at the awards was unrelated to her exit from the station, but admitted Cavuoto had been reprimanded by management.

"She and the network agreed that her behaviour was inappropriate and she regrets her behaviour on that night," the spokeswoman said.

Cavuoto's time on Video Hits inspired her to pursue her music career rather than continue at the station, according to Ten.

"Having interviewed all those artists has inspired her and made her realise that she really wants to pursue her own musical career," the spokeswoman said.

"She's decided to leave and do that."

Her Video Hits co-host Axle Whitehead will go solo on the show for the time being, but Ten has its eyes peeled for a potential replacement for Cavuoto.

Smacktard of the day: Andrew Walker. (story)

Not only is he so tremendously stupid to take drugs, amongst many other stupid decisions he's made, he didn't even take performance enhancing ones!

References to his aboriginality in three.. two.. one..

Runner-up: His manager? Or the Manly manager? I can't find the damn quote. Basically, the people saying things like, "At least he owned up to it." And the brilliant, "Andrew has taken full responsibility for this."

HELLO? HELLO? He didn't own up! He got caught! Who else were you expecting to take full responsibility for it? He's a junkie! It was his choice!
Smacktard. >_<

Honorable Mention: Would be Philip Ruddock, but oh look, I can't find THAT quote either.

It was related to the Sydney butcher who had his passport taken away from him because he'd met in the past with Abu Bakar Bashir. He was asked something along the lines of why didn't they detain him if they were concerned and Ruddock said something about how they can't just detain people without a really good reason, or some such.
But I can't find the quote.

I'm going to nominate every news service that has made the comment today that no one is interested in the election today, all everyone cares about is the AFL final.
