OK as for the Gold Coast I won one free trip to the Gold Coast which I split with a friend and we had the best time, Police Academy at Movie World and when we were up there they had a jazz festival, not to mention the hotels like Sheraton with a real swan in the pond or that other hotel with a lagoon for a swimming pool and a pizza bar.  As for Adelaide you have those bottle nose dolphins in the river (apparently some have mercury poisoning though).  I have never been to Adelaide but I have met dudes from there, they have mullets there too and they are scared of women like me for some reason.

:erm: Come to my lovely city - I dare you! Suffer from hayfever! Try to guess the sex of the people wandering through the CBD! Catch a bus to . . . erm . . . the other side of the city! Spend many blissful hours trying to spell it! Wish you'd never moved here in the first place!

No wait - that's just me :erm:

To Boof and Arpa, HOW DARE YOU!!!! Camira is part of Ipswich, Camira is upper Inala - grrrr.  I used to live there many moons ago and as a resident of Ipswich I moved to Camira to get out of Ipswich.  It's like half a suburb out you know and is therefore NOT IPSWICH!!! YUCK!  Inala - you cannot compare anything to Inala (it's far too special for that).  I do agree it's in the middle of nowhere though :)  Come to the Gold Coast perfect one day and bloody windy the next.

Come to Taree where i live and I'll show you the fibro house Mikey and The Sandman rented years ago.

Other than that on my tour is where i lost my viginity (i miss him he was cute) my school (same as previous place) and where i work (BIG W woo friggin hoo).

Thats all thats in my town, and the only comedians to come here this year are jimoin and rodney rude.

We had some good bands though, WHitlams, superjesus, INXS, diesel. and thats it.

Itchy and Scratchy used to be here like every weekend though which was cool.

heeee
as someone mentioned before, i do believe that compiling a lonely planet guide of all the absolutely awesome fantastic fun stuff to do in melbourne would take far too long!
I LOVE melbourne...
I haven't had the pleasure of going to ipswich... we drove past it and missed the turn off and that caused huge fights in the family car as it was supposed to be a "coffee stop" on our loooooong driving holiday, but hey. I can't really say that i was disappointed, whenever i hear it i picture thousands of Pauline Hanson look alikes running around cooking fish and chips. I know that is sooooo wrong but i can't help it!
:)

If anyone comes to my humble suburb I'd take them to Pin Oak Court (a.k.a. Ramsay Street ), the former site of Wobbies World (of course, this wouldn't work unless they'd seen the crappo ads for Wobbies World that used to be on), and the Rove[Live]/Neighbours studios. And you wouldn't even need a car to get to these places from my house!!!

hehehe, I live near you! About 10 minutes west of there.
If anyone came to where I live, they'd be utterly disappointed, unless they were in to sport... or shopping. My suburb is full of basketball stadiums, cricket ovals, football ovals, it's home of the melbourne rugby union team, there's a hockey field, a BMX track, a pond where you can feed or kill ducks... there, that got your attention...

um, I also live fairly close to Chadstone Shopping Centre (The Fashion Capital of Melbourne), although I don't actually live in the suburb, I live in about a 3km radius from it. It's about as good, and in some cases better than Chapel Street... people usually don't get raped and killed there

Where bouts is that? I have a fairly decent whereabouts of places in Taree (my Dad was raised in Cundletown)... hehehe, there was once a wall of tickle me Elmo's in Big W, and we just went along and set them all off, and pissed the workers off. Hope you weren't working there (twas bout 4 years ago)!
Anyway, Taree is a pretty good town, apart from that giant Oyster... why the #### did they make that?

I WILL do it... one day, when I have the time. But it would be interesting to see what different Melbournians' "Lonely Planet" guides would have in them... My idea of "fun" is probably another's idea of "complete and utter boredom".

How do we know your idea of fun is boring unless you bore us with the details.

Hmmmm, what to say about Swan Hill? As far as visiting goes... DON'T!! There is nothing to do here, aside from the good old Pioneer Settlement. Yes, go back to the 1800s! It's kind of like Sovereign Hill (in my other hometown of Ballarat), but a lot crapper.

That having been said, I still like it here, cause my family and my cat are here. Awwwww! :star:
