Ok, the holidays are upon us and summer is not far away so if someone was to visit your city or town what would you take them to see or do.  Where or what would you recomend, it could be as simple as a walk along your favourite beach, the best nightclub or venue, etc. kind of a Mosh Lonely Planet guide.

My town has a flesh eating disease at the moment. You catch it from being near the lake...

If you should find yourself in my town, Penrith, these holidays, I would suggest you LEAVE! It's a hole!

There's no nightclubs worth visiting, the river is brown and murky, although Panthers do have a waterskiing park that has funky waterslides...other than that our highlights are the Plaza (looks like some giant drag-queen left her tiara there, according to one of my old lecturers), the bowling alley, or for the energetic, Laserzone.

Like I said, it's a hole  Ask Myth if you don't believe me!

Although, we do have our highpoints. Now and then Panthers' Evan Theatre gets a good gig, like The Whitlams, and GNW a few years back. But all the good gigs are on on Sunday nights, cause they run a teen nightclub in there on Saturdays and Fridays *shudders* No alcohol...

DFL - I think u're describing your holiday town & not ur own town... I for one haven't been near that lake since January, and I ain't planning to go anywhere near it till prolly next January, if at all.

In Sydney, there's a lovely walk you can take from Coogee heading north that takes you to Gordon's Bay (on the right day the water is a beautiful blue green) right past Bronte, Waverley Cemetry and up to Bondi. *Takes you about an hour at a dawdle.

If anyone comes to my humble suburb I'd take them to Pin Oak Court (a.k.a. Ramsay Street ), the former site of Wobbies World (of course, this wouldn't work unless they'd seen the crappo ads for Wobbies World that used to be on), and the Rove[Live]/Neighbours studios. And you wouldn't even need a car to get to these places from my house!!!

As for beautiful Melbourne itself.... oooohhhhhhh I'll get back to you with some answers (my Lonely Planet guide may take a few years to compile!).

Lazerzone rocks my world!!
I like the Plaza. Much nicer than Westfields Parramatta. Nice and airy, instead of all closed in. :frown: Gets insane during holidays though, especially the chrissie ones. :)

Panthers also have Aqua Golf! That's fun too... Not that I've played in years. ;)

Indeed. :)
It probably wouldn't be so bad for someone just visiting, though. It's just that we've done everything there lotsly.

Ok what is Aqua Golf is that like Putt Putt??  Anyway the suburb I live in has Cooks River as it's claim to natural beauty, a little bit brown and murky and there are some nice walks, I have never been in the local pubs, there is no local music apart from the festival so one must get into her car and go further afield.

Hey, it's not all bad! *Kedron Pizza Hut has its attractions, remember? :cheesy: *
Brisbane also has Laser Force, which is fun, of course there are all the Gold Coast theme parks, easily accessible by train, or if you're feeling adventurous, you can go to Inala and indulge in some mullet-spotting! (Camira is upper Inala.)
And of course it's only about an hour's drive to the Big Pineapple...from my house anyway...and the ridiculous yet cool Ettamogah Pub. *Or you can take the train out to Cleveland and marvel at how far the derros there have come since they got plumbing in the 70's.

Hmm...at the start of this I was trying to 'sell' Brisbane. *Now I think I've driven people even further away than they were already.
