and cailey (sp?) - she reminds me of dawn from buffy, but in a much less annoying way - i think she's cute

I found it a bit hard to follow what was going on, but the crew pick up a few new crew members, one of whom turns out to be a federal agent who ends up shooting Kaylee. there is also cargo on the ship, which one of the newly picked up passengers tells the captain not to open. the captain opens the cargo and there's a naken woman inside.


i was having a bit of a look around on episode guides to find out which episode this was, and it's not the first one, it's episode 11 which seems like a REALLY strange order to play the series in...

I watched this all the way through for the first time this week, and I think I could become a fan.
It's a bit strange but I do like the premise behind it. The rapers were an interesting idea as was that passenger's sister River.

All in all pretty good. I'd watch it again.

Yay, Southern Cross have finally decided that they will air it down here - better late than never, I guess. So I watched it last night, wasn't too impressed at the start but decided I'd stick with, and I'm glad I did - it's good! I understand now your reference to "an outer-space western" now, Myth - weird, but it works. The only frustrating thing is that the guy playing River's brother reminded me too much of Jaoquin Phoenix and every time I saw him I burst out laughing and missed stuff.
I hope they stick with the series and don't yank it early.

Laney - in america - they didn't show the ep serenity until the end of the series even though it's actually meant to be the pilot, hence the confusion. channel 7 just got the message about showing the series in order a little too late.

if anyone's interested - there's a movie coming out based on the series - it was meant to be coming in april but has been put back to sept next year

I dunno whether you guys are not liking it as much cos we hyped it up or anything, but I just can't fathom not absolutely adoring this show. and it's not just cos I'm biased toward joss, I swear.

There's an actual pilot and then there's "Serenity", which is the rejigged pilot with added niftiness.
The actual pilot only ran for ~39mins, whereas Serenity is 2 parts of about that length each.
Wash still pulls the Crazy Ivan in both versions, so I'm happy.

Well, ok, it's advertised as "The Firefly" and after adbreaks the text that runs across the bottom of the screen reads "The Firefly".
But it sounds better without the "The"
