Buffy Trivia Night

Hey again guys,
Thought i'd let you know that Sydney Uni Buffy Society is having their semesterly Buffy Trivia night again.

Date: 21st October, 2005
Time: 6pm... probably until about 10.30/11pm
Place: Manning Bar, Sydney Uni.
Cost: I dont think its been exactly decided (i'm not on the exec anymore) but its usually around $5.

The trivia night will consist of seven Buffy rounds (1 for each season), 2 Angel Rounds, 1 Firefly round (there may be one very non-spoilery question from Serenity), a
general round plus some fun bonus rounds!

There's also a bonus Mastermind round where the best Buffy-minds compete individually for the title of "Biggest Buffy/Joss Freak".

Its always lots of fun and since i am not running it anymore i get to participate! Yay!

There will be a max table size i'm sure, probably 6-8 people. Just make sure you say that i'm not entirely sure on the price.

Yay for you guys coming! I was beginning to think you were all talk.

I went to an all Firefly trivia night a few weeks ago and our team won! I dont like to brag... Who am I
kidding? I love to brag... It was a sweeping victory, we only got 3 questions wrong out of 100... and the closest behind us was like 75% i think.

And the prizes were awesome! Because the guy who ran it has dealt with UIP, they donated Serenity shirts, Joss-signed movie-sized Serenity posters and free double passes to the movie. I dont think the prizes for this trivia night will be as good, they are traditionally just a whole heap of chocolate.. its hard to find buffy-related prizes these days, and even harder to find ones the society can afford.

Actually, if you post on another board, would you be able to add down the bottom that if people are planning on coming could they (if possible) email that address with an approximate number of people they'll be bringing? We often think noone is coming and then 60 people show up!

And could you guys let me know if you are bringing extra people too? thanks.

awww.. I wish I'd known about the firefly one! would've loved to have brought some browncoats along! (and come and given you some competition :p)

Sorry! I should have posted it, but it was run by a different club (sutekh) and they were worried too many people were going to come for the size room they had booked... plus competition=bad when cool prizes are at stake!

Change of venue:
Its now in the Holme Common Room. Which is a little harder to find. It on the Parramatta Rd side of the campus in the Holme Building. There are maps around, but i can either meet people outside it OR try to explain (with my very crappy direction giving skills).

If you guys are as good as you say you are... come on my team!!! I want to win! I was supposed to have a kick arse team of retired executives, but they all betrayed me and didnt retire, so now they cant play because they are running the night.

Time: 5.30pm-10.00pm
Place: Isabel Fidler Room, Level 3 of Manning
Teams - 6-8 people
Cost: $5 Buffy member/$9 USU (if you have a Sydney Uni orange card, then you are
USU).

Pizza will be provided on the night (included as part of the fee)
We will also be selling BuffySoc t-shirts (though we only have guys large sizes left) for $10.

ok how long does it take from central to sydney uni? i might have to catch a cab to get there

Hmm, you can get from Central to Manning Bar in about 15 minutes if you walk briskly.

Hmm.. I'd say you'd have to walk pretty briskly. But there are lots of buses from central that are a lot faster. And there's even a little sign that tells you which ones to catch. If you do catch a bus its best to get off at the footbridge.

They've changed the price system again sorry. I'm not sure why... I got this email today

"The prices are going to be sorted on three levels-
$5 if you are a member of Buffysoc (bring your card! show off the pretty pictures) and you're a USU member (i.e. if you have an orange member ID card)
$6 if you're a non-Buffysoc member, but you are a USU member.
$10 if you're not a USU member.
Also, doors open at 5:30, so you'll be able to pay, grab your pizza, meet up with other Buffy fans and organize your tables. Round 1 will start at 6pm on the dot. You can come in later, but you'll miss the beginning, so don't be late!"

So as long as you get there before 6pm, you wont miss the questions

cool, i got permission to leave work early but i had no idea what time to leave. may just catch a cab or one from the top of harris street.
