| MOSH Veteran | Diva's a hero but no Big Red And to think 75 years ago in 1930 Phar Lap carried nine stone 12 pounds (62.5kg) to win. In 1931, he carried 10.10 (68kg). All because the VRC (Victorian Racing Club) didn't like he was so good and was changing the rules regarding the weight scales for horses so he wouldn't win. Read the whole article for a better explanation than I can give. Makybe Diva weights to win Cup 2005 - 58kg 2004 - 55.5kg 2003 - 51kg I personally think Phar Lap carrying that much weight to win his one and only is so much better than the Diva winning 3 in a row. Quite simply because there were people out there trying to make it not happen at all... That could just be me. Last edited by Puppy; 02-11-2005 at 09:10 AM. | ||

Mmmmm, consistency. ![]() And that article has the quote from Freedman about no one seeing Phar Lap win 3 cups. Guess I misheard it the first time. ![]() | ||
