right i've joined up too now

i'm going to try to stay up to watch the first game, but won't even bother trying to make the second one which starts at 4:30am.

this whole, watching sports things, is a new concept to me, but since last year i've started to quite enjoy it. so i'm looking forward to watching this tonight

Yep, 4.30am would be pushing it.

Although it is a Poland match! (Poland v Ecuador)

I now have an idea what offside means, but since I do NOT covet shoes, it was hard to put myself in that place. So I put in a more desired object in place of the word shoes. It seems to have worked.

Too bad, I can't show off my new skill to anyone because I will not be watching any soccer in the near future.

The Germany v Costa Rica match was great. 3 goals in the first 20 minutes!
Final scoreline was 4-2. In the previous 10 World Cup opening matches a total of just 9 goals were scored.
I was starting to nod off during that match though, so I didn't stay up for Poland v Ecuador. Ecuador won 2-0 though. No idea if it was an exciting match.

Tips for the 3 matches tonight need to be in by 10.55pm people. Two people have already managed to not get their tips in on time and one person hasn't tipped for the entire weekend of matches yet. I'm not going to name names but I might point fingers! :P
People can still join the comp and if you're thinking of doing so, sooner is better than later.
High score in the comp is currently 2 points, which is what 5 people have. 6 others are on 1 point (including me!) with 3 people currently on 0 - the two who didn't put their tips in and one person who got both matches wrong and shall remain nameless but mockity-mock-mocked.
People in the comp can check out the current ladder by logging in and going to the Ladder page. You may need to tick the Full Ladder box to see the, er, full ladder.

I checked the ladder this morning. There is 5 way tie for first place.
(I humbly am in first place tied. I can't believe my guesses put me ahead of Mythor.)

i stand by my system of tipping! tipping related to countries i feel sorry for, countries with interesting languages, european countries over any other part of the world, countries that make me think of amusing things OR countries that sound better than the one they're playing. skillz schmillz, my tipping owns

The two right at the bottom (katrant and sooty) are only there because they haven't tipped. Their scores will update at the end of the round.

Of the people who actually tipped you are! Cling to that!

Half time and the score is 1-0 in the Netherlands v Serbia & Montenegro match. Hoping the second half is a bit more exciting though.

I wonder who augustuscesear (I think that is right) is? It seems that we are tied for first place.
