Penn & Teller: BS On Again Tonight!

You may be more familiar with the correct title: "Penn & Teller: BULLSHIT!"

No, really, it's on TV tonight! Channel 9, 10.30pm-11.30pm! (two episodes)

I know the obscenity standards have become a bit more lenient of late ("shit" in 7.30pm timeslot, for example) but... Wow.
Curious to see how much gets edited.
(There's also a lot of nudity, but that's usually less integral. A fuzzed out pair of boobs is obviously a fuzzed out pair of boobs.)

For those unfamiliar with the show, Penn & Teller: Bullshit aims to expose all manner of "bullshit" beliefs, practices and so on. By way of example, the two episodes airing tonight are about "Talking to the Dead" and "Alternative Medicine". They've done a bunch of research and talk to various experts and/or crackpots in the relevant field to show why they think something is "Bullshit!"

Many of the things they look at are interesting in their own right, Penn has a real flair for ranting and it seems to be, mostly, well researched and thought out. And really quite funny in parts.
But definitely not for people who object to a bit of profanity. Because Penn swears a lot! (As does Teller in one or two episodes. )

It's currently in Comedy Inc's timeslot (Comedy Inc was listed in the Sunday TV Guide but has since been replaced - oooh!) which will hopefully mean not too many crybabies will still be awake to complain about the show. Because I'd really like them to at least get to the PETA episode.
Labelling it the way they have in the paper/guide has me concerned, though. People not familiar with the show might assume that BS means something else, because hey! It's Penn & Teller so it must just be a magic show?

We'll see. If you have the technology I can highly recommend taping this. Or if you're staying up for the soccer, watch P&T first. Korea v Togo doesn't kickoff till after the first episode airs.

Aww Myth! Why did you get my hopes up!
As I type, we here in Melbourne are still being subjected to Comedy (St)inc.

Sorry. Can't imagine why that would be. Maybe Melbourne was behind in Comedy Inc episodes?

On the up side, P&T seems to be airing virtually unedited. Ads have been inserted of course, but otherwise? Bullshits, motherfuckers and assholes all seem to be present and accounted for.
Mad props to Ch9, as the cool kids would say.

That was cool

It does make me really wonder about chiropracters though. I have this pain in my back that seriously hurts most days and i've thought about seeing a chiro about it. And the main thing that has always stopped me is the price they charge for their services. But now...after watching that, it puts a lot of doubt in my mind about what i'd actually be paying for...

There is supposed to be things that it IS useful for. But you should definitely go see a doctor about it first anyway, since there are things that it is very very bad for too.
I can crack my back/neck without assistance anyway, so I don't see the point.

I was trying to stay up for this but I crashed in the middle of CSI and woke to the dulcet tones of Star Trek.

Sydney has Comedy Inc tonight after the State of Origin... but Melboring still doesn't have P&T. Though they do have the Origin match at 11pm.

Maybe next week.

That show was fantastic!

(Not to mention a lovely excuse to postpone my essay writing)

How many episodes are there in the season? If Channel 9 were willing to play two episodes unedited there's a chance we might be able to get the lot.

13 episodes per season. The US is currently up to Season 4.
Next episode should be Alien Abductions.
The PETA episode is the first episode in Season 2.
IMDB has an episode listing. Topics are generally pretty apparent from the episode names.

They may still censor out the nudie peoples in some episodes, but the first two episodes are pretty much as profane as the rest of them. Except one, which is on Profanity, yet contains no profanity.

The really annoying thing is that a friend downloaded them onto DVD for me recently, but the only computer in the house with a DVD drive has blown its power unit.

They're available legally on DVD, though it's Region 1 of course: Season 1 - Season 2

Now that they're airing here there's hope for a local release.

It's on in Sydney again as well. Same times.
Alien Abductions and End of the World are the two listed for Sydney & Melbourne.

Seems to be on again this week, yes.
Topics are "Sex, Sex, Sex" and "Secondhand Smoke".

Secondhand Smoke has some dodgy conclusions in it. Haven't seen the Sex, Sex, Sex episode but it sure sounds interesting.
