As for the whole "give anything to be like her business" how does 'Hell no!' sound to you? I wouldn't give anything to be like her. I don't want to be like her. I don't want to be some fabricated, contradictory creature. I don't want to claim to be a member of a subculture and then sell-out self-same subculture to the pop bopper kids. I'm proud of who I am. I'm proud of my various subcultures. Why on Earth would I want to be her? Sure, she's got money, but so what? So's Bill Gates, and I certainly don't want to be him. To be perfectly honest, I'd rather write a prize-winning novel (even over a best-seller - aiming for critical acclaim before I start raking in the cash) than churn out commercially viable "music" which is just like taking lollies - or "candy" as I assume you're American, like most of the other Avril Boppers that come in here - from children. I'm not saying I don't want money, 'cause I do, I'm merely saying that money isn't the be all and end all or who anyone is. Quote:

Oh, oh woe is us. We're the 'kinda (sic) of people who dont (sic) have many friends'. Look at us all no-frienders! </sarcasm> I don't think I need to say any more about that point. Okay, get with the program - what she wears isn't "punk style". What she sings isn't "punk music". As I think I've probably mentioned a dozen times already in this thread - wearing a tie, cons and spiky armbands does *not* constitute "punk style". And I'm not saying a lot of people didn't dress the way she did before she because "famous" - I myself have worn my share of spiky armbands and ties - what the point you seem to be missing by a good half a dozen kilometres is that with the rise and rise of this self-acclaimed "punk rawk" chick is that her fashions have influenced a whole shiteload of bopper kids out there to ape her "punk style" and think that they are now punk kids. That's what the problem is - little kiddies claiming to belong to a subculture they know nothing about thinking that "punk" is all about ties, cons, spiky armbands and trashing shopping centres and cop cars. It's not. And never will be.

Not teenager in America is for Avril. I'm from there and I hate Avril just as much as you all do. She was just on the cover of one of the kid'##########'#### sisters get and my 9-year-old sister drew facial hair and horns and such all over Avril's picture. Just thought you'd want to know that some children these days are growing up right.

Oh and apparently we're wrong about Avril not being hardcore. I flicked on to MMM on sunday morning and there she was, so "obviously" she is hardcore (needless to say I switched off straight away)

Due to my refusal to get up and turn the radio off the other morning I heard Avril's new song I'm with you "I'm With You" I'm Standing on a bridge I'm waitin in the dark I thought that you'd be here by now Theres nothing but the rain No footsteps on the ground I'm listening but theres no sound Isn't anyone tryin to find me? Won't somebody come take me home It's a damn cold night Trying to figure out this life Wont you take me by the hand take me somewhere new I dont know who you are but I... I'm with you im looking for a place searching for a face is anybody here i know cause nothings going right and everythigns a mess and no one likes to be alone Isn't anyone tryin to find me? Won't somebody come take me home It's a damn cold night Trying to figure out this life Wont you take me by the hand take me somewhere new I dont know who you are but I... I'm with you Is this really the message we want to be passing on? "I don't know who you are but can I get a lift with you anyway?" Seem to remember being told not to accept rides from strangers.

I was in the stupormarket the other night and looking for some reading material. Avril on the cover of DOLLY (oooh, yeah, she's so fucking hardcore) and the caption "Punk or Ptretender". I thought oh no, here we go, and opened it, keen to find out what the girlyrag's verdict was. Instead of discovering an article examining this statement I discovered the reported talking to our favourite </sarcasm> "punk rawwwk" chick, Avril Latrine, about yes... boys, clothes and the food she eats. Mmm. Forgive me if I'm wrong but I thought Arvil wasn't like all the other pop princesses - or at least, that's what she and her pathetic little fans would like us to believe...

I thought I'm With You was an old Cranberries cover when I first heard it. What the hell is with that yodelling near the end of the song?
