Gladiators returns to TV next Sunday night!

They're set to do battle with a bunch of tubby gits, as they're on in the same timeslot as The Biggest Loser, which is sure to do neither show any favours.

Sunday, 6.30pm, Ch7.

New series will be hosted by Tom Williams and Zoe Naylor. Tom you've probably seen in plenty of things, Zoe is one of the chicks from McLeod's Daughters.

Tom's the tosser that destroyed The Mole. Grrr.

Either way, I'm looking forward to the new series.

Nah, the last season Grant hosted was the one that spoiled it. New Host Tom was an effort to revive it but it'd lost its appeal by then.

He's an odd choice though. Guess he was still under contract?

The new series in the US was a lot of fun, at least the episodes of it that I saw. I was sort of expecting crazy levels of safety gear being required, but it's still pretty mental. Hopefully the Australian one follows suit!

hopefully they'll play all the games they used to play. i don't want to see new ideas for games, i loved the old set of games, like pyramid, and the gauntlet, the wall, hang tough, and the eliminator, etc.

it'll be a tough decision which show i'll miss though, gladiator, or biggest loser. i really don't want to miss gladiator, since its the first episode, so I may just have to flick channels in the ads. grrr

The American version had a lot of the same old games, all except The Wall from the ones you just mentioned and I may just have not seen enough episodes. Really, really hope they keep lots of them, yes.

I'm going to tape both.

According to Wiki they have kept the Wall, and it's taller too!

Looks like in the Australian version they're introducing some new games too, which should be very interesting.

And i want to see who the new Gladiators are, and their cool costumes

You haven't seen the abundance of ads and billboards around?
A week or two ago I spotted some life-size card board cut-outs of the new Gladiators at the entrance of Parramatta park. At least, I think I did. Maybe I'm just so caught up in the excitement that I've started hallucinating tightly clad muscled people...

Does anyone know whether Viper is tattooed, or just painted?

Looks like paint to me - clicky - or even special effects wizardry. Not sure.
There's some pictures and profiles up on the official site. Another clicky.

Olympia = Tatiana Grigorieva.
Kouta = Anthony Koutoufides.

Viper has pretty bloo hair, I think that's pretty awesome. Hope she keeps it for the show!

Nope, I've been TV deprived the last 3 months and we don't have massive billboards in the country :P
However the costumes do look pretty cool, and in the same style as the old show, with the women basically showing lots of boob. hehe

There's a big article about Gladiators in today's Daily Telegraph (Sydney) including the tidbit that the new referee will be... Bill Harrigan, ex-NRL top ref.

I saw the guy sitting next to me on the train today was reading it and I was trying to read over his shoulder, but I couldn't see anything. Hopefully my family will bring home the paper tonight.

Now I ded from cheese.
I'm only just getting to watch it now because of Biggest Loser.

They really need to put the Gladiator's names in the intro sequence to help people remember their names.
And I bet the big hairdos on the Gladiators go away pretty quickly. I can't imagine they want to try and keep those hairstyles looking fresh all night long!
