| MOSH Regular | I don't believe in America I don't believe in John Howard or the Government I have a mild belief in the UN, if the UN says we should go to war after exhausting every possible options I still will not agree but I will not outrageously object to it if George Bush does anything without UN approval. I'm afraid that if there is a war, nuclear weapons will be used, innocent lives will be lost all for the sake of a couple of egocentric men and their ever growing quest for power. At least we know Saddam Huessin is a tyrant, George Bush is a wolf in sheep's clothing. | ||

I don't know if anyone was listening, but today on the morning show they were talking about pacifism in the context of the current unrest and it was fascinating to listen to. It's kind of like the question being posed here...do you support war and when is it ok to go to war? I would like to consider myself a pacifist and peace loving person, and indeed all the major world religions have some pacifist teachings yet both Islam and Christianity both have had prominent philosophers and theorists who have given instances when people should go to war. I think Thomas Aquinas said that there are grounds for war as long as the attack is in defence of your people and if the size of your defence is proportionate to your oppositions attack. Although I feel as though I'm a pacifist, I must admit would I feel the same if I lived in a country that was about to be bombed? I would probably want to fight too. Does anybody else think it's interesting that America have really made this out like it's good against evil? I think we are made to believe that we are on the side of good? But is anyone really good? Who are the bigger terroists anyway?

Simon Crean said something very logical and brilliant today: "It's time John Howard started to listen to the people of Australia, and not do what George Bush wants."

I do not surrport war in any way shape of form. But seeing as I'm doing modern history, I guess, I'll just have to live with it. I hate the fact that just becasue Mr. Dubelya wants the world to end up a black hole, that all the other leaders want to make that spolit brat happy. I mean think about it...He always gets what he wants within 24 hours (mostly). I'm reading a book by Michael Moore right now, called "stupid white men" (top read!) and it really does prove that Mr Bush is the most stupid person in the world. He was asked what his favorite book as a child was, he said "teh very hungry catapiller", fair enogh you might say...shame that book was not published until the year after he left collage. I also saw Bowling for Columibne recently , and one of the main reasons that all this war is happening is because of America's love of the gun and anything else that makes a bang noise. And the thing that really shits me to tears, is the fact that the only reason that we are going to war is because John Howard loves George W. and will do anything to make him happy, even if it means that millions of innocent isralies have to die a slow and painful death, just so we can prove that some arse holes voted this prick in.

I'll make a few points that some people may not know, but they haven't been brought up here anyway: 1) The UN have lied before about the presence of weapons in Iraq and other countries, does that mean that they won't lie again? 2) Saddam Hussein attempted to have George Bush Snr. assasinated, and Dubbya has been crying about it ever since. There was a speech conference a while ago where he went on about it, "This is the same man that tried to kill my father" etc. So he's got a BIG grudge against our other evil dooer Saddam. 3) It's obvious Dubbya's trying to live up to his father's standards and previous run in the office, and he's putting his father to shame. 4) Does anyone else notice that dubbya himself is a dictator? He is just as bad as Saddam in that he wants to put the lives os so many innocent people at risk to get what he wants. FUCKING DIRTY BASTARD is what I say. Any war is a bad war, even if it is approved by the UN. Nobody can ever have all the facts, and there's always two sides to a story. Many innocent people will be killed because of two greedy men - why don't they stick to their own borders? It's not possible (though not completely impossible) to have world domination, so get those thoughts out of your head and quit while you're ahead. War is bad kiddies. I just wish John Howard would get his head out of Dubbya's arse and see what the rest of Australia thinks before he makes his decision.
