| Member | i've even typed it up for you ![]() [b:post_uid8]Duo fills in time with laughs[/b:post_uid8] Flacco and The Sandman are honest about why they're coming back to Brisbane. They've got nothing better to do. The two comic creations of Paul Livingston and Stephen Abbott have chosen the opening day of the Ekka to launch into their own unique brand of entertainment. But instead of the common "bush meets city" theme, the comedians have pitched their show about the strange, quirky and inane way of coming to a punchline. Livingston and Abbott haven't performed in Brisbane since the mid-90s, but a quiet period in their career after a high profile stint on [i:post_uid8]Good News Week[/i:post_uid8] has inspired them to hit the road again. Livingston says their Unwanted tour, which will have a three week season at Brisbane Powerhouse, was inspored the same motive that all performers have when they tour. "They like to say 'we love the people and the audiences and to get back to our roots'," Livingston said. "In fact, we've got nothing else to do." While they are in town for the Ekka, the comedians probably won't be spending too *much time at the show. As to what makes something funny, the odd couple is still not sure. "It's funny if it makes and audience laugh," Livingston said. "It's a bit sad if you laugh at it in your own room and then take it out there and get nothing." Abbott admits the question of humour is a hard one to answer. "If we knew the answer to what was funny, then we would be much richer and better off than we are now," he said. "At times we are terrible," he admitted, but his partner in mirth qickly chipped in with a more positive spin on the challenge of humour. "But if you wade through the terrible bits, you might get somethings that's really funny," Livingston said. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Rodney Chester, [i:post_uid8]The Courier Mail[/i:post_uid8], Tuesday August 6, 2002. there was also a picture of the two guys but i don't have access to a scanner.... til next.... ~Kits~ | ||
