I'm constantly amazed at how many idiots reporters can get to say idiotic things for idiotic articles. It boggles the mind how some people in television ever manage to keep their jobs while to any observer it's clear where the problem lies, and it ain't the meatpuppets.

It got cancelled after 10 episodes in the US and I think Ch7 only ended up running 1 or 2 episodes and then canned it?
But it's back at 10.30pm tonight. GO FIGURE.

It's people's responses to how australian comedy is faring after the axe falling on LLL.

for those who can't be stuffed reading it (it's about 20 pages), i will break it down for you by comedian (give u the gist) but apparently Stevie Starr & Mr Methane seem to have a cult following hehe

1. Wil - apparently he's a try-hard & not funny (duh)
2. Paul - is apparently annoying and entertaining and the same time and is over exposed.
3. Rove - has left a repugnant social legacy hehe and is also a try-hard

The last funny Australian sketch-type show was the late, lamented Backberner. Rove Live has its moments, but is ruined by the appalling Peter Hellier, and hot skewers in the eyes annoying Corrinne Grant.

4. tripod - didn't rate a mention haha
5. Corrine - everyone seems to hate her
5. Hughsey - only got 2 mentions and they got his name wrong

Irreverence is the cornerstone of comedy and there are some very irrerevent Aussie comedians, Carl Barron and is it Mark Hughes from the Glass house -

6. Charlie - is apparently very funny (does anyone know a kathy lewis, she seemed to be the only one to know her shit, she knew who tim minchin and andy mccelland were)

What's needed is a good injection of women's/feminist humour -- and, no, i don't mean the endless and boring 'jokes' about menopause and female excretions generally (which, unfortunately, is too often what's called for from commediennes). We need a great bunch of super women with a great sense of humour, mulling over the past week in the media, getting stuck into matters political, no holds barred. it would out-do and outrate the boy's 'humour' any day. I could reel off name after name of women-of-humour, women-of-side-splitting satirical bent, etc etc.

surely The Big Gig was the best ever "live" comedy sketch show, and they spawned talent which fed the Australian comedy industry for years to come. LLL seemed to be trying to emulate the BG format, and they did that sort of ok but the sketches just weren't funny.

You only have to look at the Melbourne Comedy Festival, Cracker Comedy Festival and The Big Laugh Festival to see that we have plenty of talented and funny people around. We are a nation of funny buggers! Until we get someone prepared to take a risk with production and programming we are never going to see our own League Of Gentleman or The Office. Instead we are destined for re-runs and canned laughter."

Further, I can't believe that you left BackBerner off your list of Aussie Classics? With the exception of The Chasers and The Games, it was the closest thing Australia had to a cutting political satire in recent years. I'd also suggest including Life Support from SBS on the list to remind Australians how pathetically shallow lifestyle shows (and the lives they espouse) actually are. And what about the Aunty version of Good News Week? And for that matter, throw Pizza into the list as well for its ability to engage with (and tear apart) the contemporary social issues with no apparent regard to whom it may offend in the process. On a good week, The Glass House can take its place up on the mantle.
