Comedian and ABC personality Wil Anderson was just putting the finishing touches to his new Jagged Little Wil show when High Life tracked him down last week. The show opens on Tuesday at the salubrious Sydney Opera House- super salubrious, in fact, when compared with some of the dives where Anderson's stand-up career has taken him.
"It's my first time there," he said. "I think Pavarotti is at the Comedy Store."
Anderson, who will be combining the show with his regular breakfast gig on Triple J, said the standard of the venue often impacted on the type of performance he delivered.
"There's a show you'll do in a crowded room with a really bad PA and a stage in the corner with a globe hanging above it," he said.
"You really have to command people's attention. I once played Luna Park and they put us where the dodgem cars would normally be and they ran the PA through Luna Park's sound system, which was fine except that every now and then I'd be interupted by a voice saying: "Mr and Mrs Jones, please report to the front office to pick up your daughter".
