KOP Article in 'The City Weekly' (MELB)

I found this in 'The City Weekly', a free thing that you can get in Melbourne. I know there are some KOP fans out there so i thought i'd type it up.
Enjoy!

SETTING OUT TO BLOW THE BIG NAMES AWAY

The big names in town might include Bob Dylan and Billy Thorpe, and Beth Orton and the Blues Breakers, but next week will be even ore important for Melbourne band Kind of Pluto.
Kind of Pluto is one of 22 independent, unsigned acts selected from around the country to compete at Australia's premier international music program, Australian Music Week.
The week, which coincides with the inaugural Melbourne International Music and Blues Festival, forces the acts into a play-off. In just 30 minutes they must prove they are the best new things in Australian music. The winner wins a trip to Texas and a spot on the main stage of the MIMBF to play alongside the likes of Dylan, Thorpe, Tony Joe White and Ray Charles.
The gigs are staged over 2 days (Feb 5-6) at The Mercury Lounge, Club Odeon and Heat.
"We have never been involved in anything like this even though the band has been around for three or four years,: Kind of Pluto's singer Steven Gates says.
"We think it's our time now to step forward and gather the accolades that are so deserved."
Gates says he is up for the opportunity to steal the limelight from the big fish of the recording world and show them what real music is all about.
Gates says of his music: "It's very melodic, very massive and, in the Espy the other night, it was very f...... loud".
Australian Music Week aims to raise the profile of the Australian
music industry here and overseas, and has attracted a number of international guests. As well as the many gigs on offer, there are also forums, debates and lectures.

The Melbourne International Music and Blues Festival is on from Feb 7 to 9 and in addition to Dylan, Charles, Thorpe and Orton, will include Ani DiFranco. On the banks of the Yarra, and in the Melbourne Exhibition Centre and adjoining parks, the festival offers more than 70 acts over three days.
